There could not have been a more agonizing defeat than the one Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen endured as he attempted to end a 0-for-24 drought in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve on May 7.
The news that upset Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve winner Rich Strike would skip the Preakness Stakes and wait for the Belmont Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets on June 11 came as a surprise
As much as the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve winner will not be at the Preakness Stakes, the middle jewel of the Triple Crown will have a heavy favorite. Epicenter, who was second in the run for the roses, was installed as a heavy 6-5 favorite in the Preakness.
